In the Nursery, paid staff and volunteers work together to provide a safe and fun environment for our littlest members. Two nursery rooms - one for infants and one for toddlers - are connected for easy caregiver access. Enforced safety policies help keep the area secure, and vibrating beepers assure parents that they can be reached immediately if a special need arises.

8:45 a.m. Discovery Hour for Youth and Teens begins September 18, 2011

Kids - Each week, Sarah DeYoung will lead a group that meets at 8:45 a.m. in LL5 for some fun and food to get everyone primed and ready for Sunday School at 10 a.m. Kids who practice with the choir will join us after rehearsal, and older kids are invited to help lead.

10:00 a.m. Sunday School
September 11, 2011 - June 3, 2012

During the 10:00 a.m. service, elementary-age kids (age 3 - grade 5) join their parents for the beginning of worship, enjoy a brief children's sermon, and are excused to their classrooms. Our Sunday School uses a hands-on curriculum that teaches biblical truths in ways that kids can grasp with their hearts as well as their hands.

10:00 a.m. Summer Worship for Children
June 10 - September 2, 2012

Nursery care will be available for infants and toddlers through age 2. Children ages 3 - entering 3rd grade will attend one room Summer Sunday School. Children entering 4th grade and older remain in worship with their families.

Senior PF meets from 10:15 - 11:30 AM

PF meets on Sunday mornings. Jr. & Sr. High students will begin in church with their families at 10 AM and then head to the Social Hall with the rest of the youth who will go to their respective Sunday School classes. We'll have devotions and fellowship time, and then split off in two groups for program time. Once a month the group will have a special social outing together.

FEBRUARY SPECIAL EVENT: Curling @Tosa Curling Club (Hart Park) - 4 - 6 PM on February 12th

The youth will receive a demonstration on how to curl from Mike Elwing. They will then actually get a chance to try curling! We'll follow that up with a delicious homemade supper. See Tonia for mandatory consent forms.

Local Service Project

If you are entering 9th - 12th grade and would like to help with local service projects or receive more information on what our mission is, please contact Mrs. Cummings at carlacummings@me.com

Vacation Bible School

Vacation Bible School is for children entering JK through entering 6th grade. Bible School was held the week of August 8th. Our program this year was entitled "PandaMania." The children came to find out why God was wild about them! We hope you'll join us next year for another great program!

Covenant Class

You may be more familiar with the term "confirmation class." In Congregationalism, we study to "own the covenant." In our youth programs, Covenant Class is offered for 9th & 10th graders as a two-year study program in preparation for full church membership. Students survey the Bible, major Christian doctrine, the history of the Christian church and Congregationalism. In addition, students experience a variety of worship styles and participate in numerous service and outreach opportunities. Before joining the church (or owning the covenant) in spring, these students write their profession of faith. Classes for both 9th & 10th graders will meet on the 1st and 3rd Sundays of the month in the Library and Lounge.

All-Church Camp brings church families together for a weekend during July. The Christmas Workshop kicks off the Christmas season for everyone, from 3 year olds to grandparents. An Ice Cream Social is held in in the spring. As you may have guessed, we love families and food here at First Church 'Tosa.

Drive-in Movie
February 24 , 2012, 6 PM - Bruce Almighty in Friendship Lounge

Bruce Almighty is a 2003 fantasy comedy film directed by Tom Shadyac and written by Steve Koren, Mark O'Keefe, and Steve Oederkerk. It stars Jim Carrey as Bruce Nolan, a down-on-his-luck TV reporter who complains to God that He isn't doing His job correctly, and then is offered the chance to try being God himself for one week. Morgan Freeman, Jennifer Anniston, Steve Carell, and Catherine Bell also star while Tony Bennett makes a cameo appearance.

Our movies are a bargain! $4 gets you all the pizza, popcorn, and lemonade you can eat. Please sign up at the Gathering Table in the Atrium or contact the church office at callena@firstchurchtosa.org.

Music Ministries

Children may also explore their musical gifts in the Cherub Choir for kids who are age three through first grade. The Junior Choir is for children in second through eighth grade. Our children and youth choirs sing periodically throughout the year in worship.

Youth Brass Players in grades 6 - 12 are invited by church member and music teacher, Jay Allison, to rehearse with him on Sunday mornings at 9:15 AM in room LL3 beginning in September. Please contact Jay at 414-453-8706 if you are interested in playing with the group.
