First Church holds Confirmation Services each spring. Youth who have completed the Covenant Classes in ninth grade are invited to own the church covenant and be received into the membership of the church.
Friends and visitors are always welcome at First Church. If you would like to better understand what it means to be a Congregationalist or are interested in joining our congregation, you are encouraged to participate in one of several New Member classes held throughout the year.
New Member Classes are scheduled on Sundays, immediately follow the 10 AM worship service, and last approx. 90 minutes. We include lunch and an option for child-care if needed.
Our upcoming dates are: November 13, 2016 and February 12, and May 7 in 2017. Email firstname.lastname@example.org for more information on the next class.
First Church offers lovely settings for weddings officiated by a minister of First Church, accommodating small intimate gatherings as well as large ceremonies. The upstairs parlor doubles as a comfortable dressing area with full length mirror and adequate room for the women in the wedding party. The Social Hall with adjacent kitchen or Friendship Lounge with catering kitchen are available for receptions, depending on your needs.
Our wedding hostess is available to answer your questions, coordinate the rehearsal and assist with other details.
Couples meet with a minister of First Church to discuss plans for the wedding ceremony and the wedding day.
The ministers of First Church are here to provide prayer, counsel and supportive care to families experiencing the death of a loved one.
We will assist you, at this difficult time, in providing family and friends a prayerful and meaningful funeral service at the church, funeral home or graveside. Or, if you prefer, we will provide a memorial service at the church following private interment.
Please call First Church upon the death of a family member or loved one, either immediately before or following your call to the mortuary. If you get the after-hours' recording, please do not hesitate to call the emergency number, 414-258-7378. One of the ministers of First Church will call you back as soon as possible.
If the service is held at First Church, the minister will coordinate availability of the Nave, Chapel, and/or other rooms for the service and reception with our staff and help you plan the service. We can assist you, as requested, in selecting the biblical readings, hymns, music, and pastoral message.
If the funeral is held at First Church, we will reserve the following facilities on your behalf:
We invite you to obtain a copy of the booklet titled If I Should Die... and a form for detailing one's funeral preferences from the First Church office. The completed forms are kept on file in the church office and will help your family understand your wishes in the event of your death.
Scheduling a funeral or memorial service is always subject to the
availability of our facilities as well as the availability of our staff and volunteers.
