THE CALL TO WORSHIP Rev. Barry W. Szymanski, J.D.

Minister: Let us wholeheartedly sing praise and thanksgiving to God
People: Who has loved us with a faithful and steadfast love;
Minister: Who responds when we call and shields us from the anger of our enemies.
People: O that the leaders of the world would listen for your words and praise your glory, O God.
Minister: For you relate to us, not as someone high and mighty, far removed from us, but as someone who chose to live among us.
People: A Savior to lift up the lowly and scatter the proud.
Minister: Fulfill your purpose in us, O God, as we praise your steadfast love which endures forever.

*HYMN 243 Holy, Holy, Holy! Lord God Almighty

*THE PRAYER OF THE DAY and THE LORD’S PRAYER (unison)

Holy God, your glory and majesty far exceed our capacity to imagine them, and yet you chose to share our humanity in the person of Jesus Christ. He made your holiness and your glory visible through his love and his compassion. A love which resonated in people’s lives, and a compassion which permeated all his actions. He calls us to make your holiness and your glory visible in and through our lives also, and so we pray as we worship you with awe and reverence, that we declare with our lips and our lives: Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts; the whole earth is full of your glory. And pray to you:

Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.

*THE GLORIA PATRI (Hymn 558)

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost; As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen, Amen.

*THE PSALMODY Psalm 138 sung to Darwall’s 148th
Hymnal, no. 393

O Lord, my heart will sing, Thee Lord indeed!
I give Thee thanks and praise, The proud will fall, their boasts are vain,
And in Thy holy temple bow The meek of earth shall o’er them reign. Throughout my days.

Thy steadfast love in faithfulness, Though dangers gather round,
O God, let shower from above. O, Lord, preserve my life;
And by Thy strong and forceful arm

God answered when I called, I conquer strife.
Responding to my need; God will give heed, my hopes fulfill,
The rulers of the earth shall name And keep the vow to love me still.

THE INVITATION TO THE TABLE and PRAYER OF CONFESSION

[After the Minister invites us to the Table, we are called to reflect on what may keep us from loving and serving in holiness of life and then we pray:]

Holy God, make holy my life. Your majesty and grandeur remind me of my failings. I feel lost, but you are the one who seeks and saves the lost. In your restoration of who I have been and still yet can be, your word burns and beckons me to follow and to be one among many who go in your name and love your love. Amen.

[The Minister reminds and assures us of God’s pardon.]

THE CELEBRATION OF THE LORD’S SUPPER

Minister: The God of glory be with you.
People: And also with you.
Minister: Lift up your hearts.
People: We lift them towards God.
Minister: Let us offer our thanks to God.
People: It is right to give God our thanks and praise.

[The Minister continues the Great Thanksgiving Prayer when we hear “. . .we praise
your holy name saying:”]

Holy, holy, holy Lord, God ofpower and might, heaven and earth are full of your glory.
Hosanna in the highest.
Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.
Hosanna in the highest.

[The Ministers continue the Great Thanksgiving Prayer.]

THE BREAKING OF THE BREAD
