THE CALL TO WORSHIP Rev. Steven A. Peay, Ph.D.
Leader: In you, OLord, I take refuge; let us never be put to shame.
People: In your righteousness deliver us and rescue us; incline your ear to us and save us.
Leader: Be a rock of refuge to us, a strong fortress, to save us, for you are our rock and our fortress.
People: Rescue us, O God, from the hand of the wicked, from the grasp of the unjust and cruel; for you, O Lord, are our hope, our trust, O Lord, from our youth.
Leader: Our praise is continually of you.

*HYMN 485 Glorious Things of Thee Are Spoken

*THE PRAYER OF THE DAY and THE LORD’S PRAYER (unison)

Eternal God, you create us by your power, we pray that you redeem us by your love. Guide and strengthen us, that we give ourselves in love and service to one another and to you. Father, you are always present; forgive us for not reflecting your faithfulness. Jesus you as you, always self-giving; forgive us for living for ourselves.

Holy Spirit leads us on; forgive us for holding back. Renew us, O Christ. In the midst of the staleness of routine, bring fresh stirrings of life. You always lead us in the midst of creeping disillusion, bring rekindled hope. In the midst of numbing doubt, bring all-conquering faith. In the midst of shoddy experiences, bring untarnished ideals. In the midst of cold indifference, bring warm, tender mercy. In the midst of unseemly clamor, bring restored serenity. Renew us, O Christ.

Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread;
and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.

*THE GLORIA PATRI (Hymn 558)

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost; As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen, Amen.
