THE CALL TO WORSHIP Rev. Jan Kwiatkowski, M.S., M.F.T.

Minister: We do not come to worship for more of the same.
People: We come to worship for transformation by God.
Minister: We do not enter this sanctuary to live out our lives here.
People: We enter this sanctuary for the sake of living outside of here.
Minister: We do not offer liturgy as a way of saying, “Listen to us!”
People: We come open to God’s word that speaks, “Listen to my Child!”

*HYMN 37 Immortal, Invisible, God Only Wise

*THE PRAYER OF THE DAY and THE LORD’S PRAYER
Rev. Barry W. Szymanski, J.D.

Minister: Let us pray that we may be transfigured into the likeness of Christ:

ALL: Almighty Father, whose Son Jesus Christ was revealed in majesty before he suffered death upon the cross: give us grace to perceive his glory, that we may be strengthened to suffer with him and be changed into his likeness, from glory to glory: who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever, and taught us to say:

Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.

*THE PSALMODY Psalm 99 sung to Leoni
[Psalm put into meter by Michael Morgan.]

God reigns, enthroned on high; Unto the priests of old
Let all the earth proclaim Who called upon God’s name,

With trembling lips the awesome might The Law was spoken from the clouds,
Of God’s great name! And wrought in flame!

A holy Lord, whose rule To God’s commands give heed;
Is marked with equity; In faith, endure always;

Whose righteousness to us is bound Let Zion’s walls forever ring
All time to be. With songs of praise!

THE CALL TO PRAYER and SILENT MEDITATION

THE PRAYER OF PEOPLE AND MINISTER

Minister: The Lord be with you.
People: And also with you.
Minister: Lift up your hearts.
People: We lift them up to the Lord.
Minister: Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.
People: It is right to give him thanks and praise.
Minister: Accept, O God, our thanks and praise for all you have done for us in the greater Milwaukee community.
People: We thank you, Lord.
Minister: We thank you for the splendor of the whole creation, for the beauty of this world, and especially for the enjoyment of this place of rivers and lakes which you have given to generations of people who have lived and worked here.
People: We praise you for the beauty of creation.
Minister: We thank you for the wonder of life, for the mystery of love, for the blessing of family and friends and for the loving care which surrounds us and the love with which you have blessed the families of previous generations in this community.
People: We thank you, God, for the blessings of home and family.
Minister: We thank you for tasks which demand our best efforts, for the challenge and rewards of work on the farms and orchards in earlier times and in the industries and commerce of this community, for accomplishments which satisfy and delight us, and even for the disappointments and failures that lead us to acknowledge our dependence on you alone.
People: Thank you, Lord, for the challenge and rewards of work.
Minister: Above all, we thank you for your son Jesus Christ, for the faithful witness to the gospel given by our forebears, and for the fellowship of the church in which successive generations learned the truth of your word and shared the blessings of his death and resurrection in the power of the Holy Spirit.
People: All praise and thanksgiving to you our God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
Minister: Hear our prayers for this parish family on behalf of our community and all for whom we intercede, especially those we have named before you and those we hold in our hearts. Embrace into the heights of your heavenly dwelling those who have died. Lift our hearts to your presence where we may behold your face.
Proclaim the greatness of the Lord our God;
People: For the Lord our God is the Holy One
Minister: As our ancestors witnessed your glory in the cloud and upon the mountain, O God, so open our eyes that we may see your presence manifest in all creation; that following the example of Moses and Elijah, we may faithfully obey your will and proclaim your glory, until all the world is transfigured with the light of your Son, our Savior Jesus Christ.
ALL: Amen.
