First Congregational Church of Wauwatosa
May 31, 2020
We, the pastors of FCC issue this statement:
If we imagine that we are on a ship then it I easy to realize that our intimate world as an enclosed place where, if there is a tragedy at sea, all of us will be exposed to disaster. However, if we extend tragedy to our nation it is harder to realize the suffering of people.
At this time our nation, not just Minneapolis, is in upheaval because of a criminal act – and people are reacting to injustice. As we recall St. Paul’s analogy of everyone of us as integral members of the Body of Christ, we can specifically read what he wrote in 1 Cor 12:26, “If one member suffers, all suffer together with it; if one member is honored, all rejoice together with it.” Unfortunately there is no rejoicing at this time. May God have mercy on our nation.
